SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS
Rizzo Associates Czech (formerly Stevenson and Associates, Office in Czech Republic) has participated in a number of projects, primarily in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. As a part of these projects, it has provided expert and consultancy services focused on seismic evaluation of equipment and components, equipment qualification, structural mechanics, and more. As part of its projects, Rizzo Associates Czech used its GIP-VVER experience. Read on.

The goal of this project was to demonstrate the capability of equipment safety function under the postulated LOCA accident.

The project stands for a follow-up of the initial phase of Mochovce 3&4 (Introductory Project) completion. The co-operation with the company Slovenske elektrarne within the Mochovce NPP Unit 3&4 completion takes place on several levels.

Experts from Rizzo Associates Czech performed the plant walkdown and verified the seismic adequacy of the main structures, equipment components and piping systems of both units 3&4 of the nuclear power plant Jaslovské Bohunice using calculations and seismic tests based on seismic experience methods (GIP-VVER).

Within the project, performed for the company ROEZ, s. r. o. headquartered in Trnava, Slovak Republic, the seismic qualification of the mobile diesel generator unit was delivered for the completion of Mochovce NPP, Units 3&4, Slovak Republic.

Rizzo Associates Czech specialists perform the on-demand plant seismic walkdowns after installation of new and/or modified equipment as well as the seismic safety evaluation on Temelín NPP, Czech Republic. These services are provided on-demand to several clients – the utility suppliers, e.g. I&C Energo a.s., NUVIA a.s., ŠKODA JS a.s., ENERGOSERVICE CZ s.r.o., ELTODO, a.s., ČEZ ENERGOSERVIS spol. s r.o. and more.

The results from the seismic fragility analysis of the structures, systems and components) were the input to the seismic Probabilistic Risk Assessment of the nuclear power plant.

The goal of the project was the seismic qualification and finite element analysis of air conditioning assemblies containing fan units, cooler, electric heater as well as FEM analysis of separate condensing units.

When performing the project of the equipment qualification for Unit 1 of the South Ukraine nuclear power plant and seismic safety evaluation of the plant equipment, the customer was provided from Rizzo Associates Czech with complete services such as plant seismic walkdowns, seismic calculations and conceptual design of seismic upgrades.

Rizzo Associates Czech cooperates as a partner organization of a multinational scientific team on the design of seismic safe components and structural parts of so-called hot cells complex of the newly built Jules Horowitz Reactor in Cadarache (France).
